Exception to Certification

for Ultrasound Fellows

POCUS Fellows with significant POCUS experience outside of the CPoCUS IP certification program can apply for an Exception to Certification

If granted an Exception to Certification,
you do not need to complete an introductory course and
you do not need to acquire logged scans

You must pass the three certification examinations
prior to applying for an Exception to Certification

You can complete the Written and Visual exams online, and
the Practical exam in person at the CAEP annual meeting

Once certified, teach at ultrasound courses and share POCUS skills

Earn CME credits at the same time!

CME credits are available from RCPSC for completing or teaching IP certification or introductory POCUS courses, and for reviewing online CPoCUS curricula. These activities have been accredited as an Accredited Simulation Activity, Section 3. CPoCUS members can claim 3 CME credits per hour of activity with a maximum of 72 credits per course.
